Media developments

The Irish Times has announced a number of editorial changes in advance of the newspaper’s 150th anniversary on March 29th, 2009.

  • On Mondays, the Irish Times will publish a new supplement Gallery, an image magazine. Gallery will be edited by Pictures Editor Peter Thursfield.
  • On Tuesday, the Health Supplement which will also include a new four-page Parenting section and put a greater emphasis on personal health experiences and lifestyle issues as well as covering health as before. HEALTHplus, edited by Barry O’Keeffe, will be presented in a 20-page compact format.
  • A new 12-page Sports supplement in broadsheet format will be published with a particular emphasis on schools’ sports for girls and boys. It will be edited by Sports Editor Malachy Logan.
  • The Motors supplement will change from an eight-page broadsheet to a 16-page compact, covering motoring news, reviews and developments.
  • On Saturdays, a new 24-page travel supplement will be published. It will be edited by Miriam Donohoe.
  • In addition there will be an extra Opinion page from Monday to Friday.
